It is environmentally friendly and has good relations with the community. From recent research, it is evident that our local contacts are not as much interested in our community relations initiatives; this has led to a slight fall in sales. Being the public relations director, am proactive to the company's community relations. These events that have occurred may not have any impact on the company, but I would like to act on them to protect the company. From the view of our parking lot, most of our employees drive vehicles that are gas guzzlers, such as SUVs and pick-ups. The company's service and delivery vans are also not very environmental friendly. From my research, have found a local hybrid vehicle trader, who has an interesting deal to offer. Employees working for a company that will purchase hybrids as company vans will get rebates if they purchase hybrids for themselves. A hybrid car utilizes over a single mean of propulsion e.g. diesel and an electric motor(Fenn, 2016). Its uses less fuel and release less carbon dioxide making it more environmentally friendly(Webster, 2016). Our company being concerned about environmental conservation, it should contemplate buying a few of hybrid vehicles and persuade employees to purchase hybrids for themselves. This is my tentative plan to protect our company from being accused of hypocrisy and to improve our community relations. The many advantages that hybrid cars possess will outweigh the disadvantages(Fenn, 2016). It is costly to purchase but in the long run it will save a lot on fuel expenses and will conserve the environment which is the main mission of our company. Employees will set a good example for the community by using these hybrid vehicles. Most people love to learn from the action, and this will be a good platform to educate the people in the community how to effectively be environmental friendly. This will improve our public relations. The employees will be involved in company activities; this motivates them and in the long term there will be positive results from the company.
